Come along as we celebrate Global Meetings Industry Day 2019!

What an awesome day of networking and advocating alongside other meeting and event industry partners!

Global Meetings Industry Day was Thursday, April 4, 2019! We celebrated with over 300 meeting and event professionals at the wonderful Fair Market Venue in Austin, Texas. The venue looked marvelous with design by Kennedy Creative Events. The space was filled with comfortable seating, rustic lighting, and picture perfect back drops.

What is Global Meeting Industry Day you ask? On April 4th, events took place all across the globe to celebrate the impact that meetings have on the world. The events provided an opportunity for industry professionals to advocate and network together. We took a closer look at the measurable impact that meetings have on not only businesses, economies and communities, but also on people. Experiencing a meeting, conference, or convention can ignite great ideas, and build valuable relationships between individuals.

With all of these events taking place across the world, we were happy to find an event so close to San Antonio. We made the trip up to Austin for the afternoon to enjoy networking, education and experience some of the awesome things our industry partners provide. We enjoyed delicious bites from Whim Hospitality, Contigo Catering, Pink Avocado Catering, and Crave Culinary Event Design and Management. We enjoyed the lovely sounds of The Ascots Piano Trio while mingling with meeting planners, destination management companies, caterers and many convention and visitors bureaus from all over Texas.

One of our favorite parts was learning from a panel of industry experts. The master of ceremonies, Thom Singer, was great with the audience and kept us all engaged throughout the event! The panel included Mario J. Bass from Visit San Antonio, Kim Hanks from Whim Hospitality, Richard Harper from HelmsBriscoe, Tom Noonan from Visit Austin, and Steven Stout from Texas Society of Association Executives. It was so enjoyable to hear from such experts in the meeting industry. They discussed future trends for meetings & events as well as memorable experiences from their time in the industry. Our largest takeaway from the panel was that there is a major emphasis on the attendee experience at meetings and events. It is important to provide meaningful, and interactive experiences that individuals will remember for years to come!
